We were pleasantly surprised at this Computex 2008 when we saw Gigabyte’s new convertible tablet, the M912. At $650, with an 8.9-inch screen and 160gb HDD, it promises to be an excellent competitor to the HP Mini-Note, which we reviewed recently. Gigabyte’s Brendon Lo says that the M912 should be out somewhere around July 2008.
We’re looking forward to getting our hands on one.

While the Macbook Air has long reigned as the king of sleek and sexy laptops the newly announced Voodoo Envy manages to beat it in terms of both computing power, and clean sexy design. The Envy features a carbon fiber case (with an option for the automotive finish of your choice), and a revolutionary new AC adapter with an Ethernet port and a dedicated 802.11n router to allow wired connections without wires. The Envy 133 clocks in at 0.7” thick which dethrones the Macbook Air as the thinnest laptop on the market, while still managing to pack 2 USB ports (one of which is eSATA compatible), HDMI, and an ExpressCard slot.
Check out the video for a first look at this slim and lustworthy computing masterpiece in an interview with Rahul Sood, founder of Voodoo and CTO of HP Global Gaming.

We speak with Eric Deritis from AMD as he gives us an overview of the OLPC. The One Laptop Per Child project is an important one, and Eric not only shows us a near-final build of the hardware and software, but he also gives us some background on the project itself, and why it’s impact could be so huge. One quote he gave us was that the product isn’t meant to reach the next billion people in the world, but rather it’s meant to reach the last billion people. Powerful stuff.
