Bleeding Edge TV 401: Apple iPhone 4S speed test - AT&T vs. Verizon
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Full Episodes, Gizmatic, Apple, Cell Phones, Features, Handhelds, Podcasts, Product Reviews, Videocasts, Videos
In this episode we compare the data speeds of the iPhone 4S, looking at Verizon and AT&T. As has been mentioned by Apple, the GSM version of the iPhone 4S supports the faster 14.4Mbps speeds that AT&T refers to as 4G (not to be confused with 4G LTE, as confusing as that may be.) The Verizon (and Sprint) model of the iPhone 4S doesn't support the faster speeds on those CDMA networks. We also compare the speed using the AT&T Microcell as well, which is a device you can buy from AT&T if you don't get great coverage in your home or workplace to boost your signal strength.

We give you a look at the white AT&T iPhone 4S, along with the black Verizon iPhone 4S in this episode. As you can see, if you're familiar with the iPhone 4, Apple made some subtle changes in the design of the iPhone 4S, most notably in the antenna, which now has a slick dual-action function. The Verizon model also picks up a SIM card slot, making it (and the others) a world phone device. We also show you the included accessories that Apple throws in as well. Be sure to check out our full iPhone 4S review, and iPhone 4S unboxing gallery as well.

We took some time to chat with MPower at CES 2010, and they gave us a quick demo of their Emergency Illuminator flashlight device. Definitely unique, as it has two battery compartments - one for standard, and one for a super-long lasting battery. In addition, the flashlight sports a USB port, which you can use to charge, say, your mobile phone, in the event of an emergency.

The BlackBerry Presenter device allows you to control a PowerPoint presentation wirelessly using just your BlackBerry phone. At CES 2010 we were able to hang with Ryan Biden, RIM Product Manager for the BlackBerry Presenter device, as he gave us a test drive. Aside from simply wirelessly displaying and controlling a PowerPoint presentation from your BlackBerry, you can also set a presentation to loop on its own once the Presenter has it cached, and walk away. We give you a full demo of the BlackBerry Presenter in this episode.

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gizmatic, Short Bytes, Accessories, USB, Apple, Cell Phones, Features, Podcasts, Portable Audio / Video, Product Reviews, Videocasts, Videos
If there is one complaint we have about the iPhone 3G, it’s that with our heavy usage, we get fairly poor battery life. However, thanks to the new Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 3G, I no longer am left needing a charge after 8-10 hours of use. If you are someone who:
- Talks a lot on the phone
- Uses the iPod feature a lot
- Plays a lot of games from the App Store
- Uses push email, contacts, and/or calendars with Exchange, MobileMe, or both
- Any combination of the above
Then the Mophie Juice Pack may be exactly what you need, if you are finding yourself in a similar situation. We give you a look at the device, which doubles the battery life of your iPhone 3G, in this episode.
