Bleeding Edge TV 448: Phosphor Appear Swarovski Crystal Watch
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Clothing, Design, Features, Podcasts, Videocasts, Videos
The Phosphor Appear is a great looking watch, and a cool gadget to boot! We saw this one at CES, and had to get our hands on one as soon as we saw it. The Phosphor Appear is driven by Micro-Magnetic Mechanical Digital (M3D) technology, the Phosphor Appear watch utilizes miniature-sized rotors adorned with Swarovski crystals that revolve to reveal numerical or chronological information. Every minute, an electrical pulse generates an electromagnetic field that changes the position of the crystals on the face of the watch, which in turn, displays the passing time while producing a distinctive sound unique to the Phosphor Appear digital watch line. You can pick up the Phosphor Appear on Amazon. This video was recorded at CES 2012.

Bleeding Edge TV 447: PixelOptics shows us the glasses of the future
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Misc. Tech, Podcasts, Videocasts, Videos
We chat with Mark Graham of PixelOptics in this episode. PixelOptics impressed us with its futuristic take on corrective vision and glasses. As you'll see, they've been able to put liquid crystal into the lenses, along with circuitry in the frame, that allows you to enable and disable the bifocal mode on your glasses with a tap of the frame. You can also enable an auto on/off by way of the accelerometer. Even if you don't wear glasses, this is a very cool look at what can be done. This video was recorded at CES 2012.

Bleeding Edge TV 444: Nest Learning Thermostat DIY Installation
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: CES, CES 2012, Features, Household, Podcasts, Videocasts, Videos, Wireless / WiFi
In this episode we show you how to install the Nest Learning Thermostat all on your own, using the simple instructions provided by the company in the box. Despite our love of tinkering with gadgets,It was a bit daunting to screw around with wires coming out of the wall. That said, it really is quite easy! Seriously - we've never done anything like this, ever, and were pretty unsure of ourselves, but as you see in the video, installing the Nest is a snap. As we've covered previously, the Nest Learning Thermostat monitors your temperature settings and aims to save you money by guiding you towards optimal settings, and also through its unique proximity sensors that can reduce energy consumption when it senses that no one is home. It connects to your home Wi-Fi network, and therefore it can be controlled from anywhere through the web interface or smartphone app.

Bleeding Edge TV 443: Third Rail Smart Case for iPhone 4S
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Apple, CES, CES 2012, Features, Podcasts, Videocasts, Videos
We show you the awesome Third Rail Slim Case and Smart Battery for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in this episode. The design of the Third Rail system is brilliant. The case itself protects the iPhone, but is super slim because of the fact that the battery is removable. When you need power, you just slide a Smart Battery into place, and your phone is charging. Even cooler, the Smart Battery can charge other USB devices on its own, not just iPhones. During SXSW last week, I found out just how awesome the concept behind the Third Rail Smart Case was. I had three Smart Batteries with me, which was way less bulky (and way less expensive!) then carrying three separate case chargers, like the Mophie Juice Pack Air or something similar, and the fact that I could use the Smart Batteries to charge my other USB devices was a fantastic bonus. You can find the Third Rail Smart Case on Amazon.

Bleeding Edge TV 442: Swingline Stack and Shred shredders
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: CES, CES 2012, Features, Household, Podcasts, Videocasts, Videos
We bring you a look at the Swingline Stack and Shred, a shredder that can shred up to 100 pages at a time in one fell swoop. With the Swingline Stack and Shred, you just load the paper in that needs to be shredded, similar to the way that you load a stack of blank paper into your printer. Close the lid, and the Stack and Shred goes to work with no need for you to stand there going page by page, no overheating, no paper jamming, etc. It will also shred through documents with paper clips and staples in them, and also does credit cards. At CES 2012, I took at look at the Stack and Shred and walked away very impressed by what I saw. You can find the Stack and Shred on Amazon.

Bleeding Edge TV 441: HexBugs robot toy review
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Podcasts, Product Reviews, Toys, Videocasts, Videos
We give you a look at three different types of HexBugs in this episode. HexBugs are robotic creatures, similar to insects, that crawl around. Batteries are included, so you just open them up and turn them on, and as you can see, they will start crawling around right away. The HexBug Inchworm is radio-controlled, while the HexBug Original and HexBug Nano are simply battery powered and kind of do their own thing once you turn them on. Aside from the insect robots themselves, you can also purchase different environments for the HexBugs to move around in, which looks especially cool when dealing with the Nano version. If you're interested, you can find HexBugs at RadioShack, and can also purchase HexBugs on Amazon.
