Bleeding Edge TV 323: A look at Verizon FiOS TV with Twitter and Facebook integration

We’ve been fans of the Internet service for about two-and-a-half years now, and as soon as FiOS TV was available for Gear Live HQ, we were first in our area to subscribe to that service as well. Aside from the uncompressed signal that they send through, the service has some features that make it truly unique, like the integration of Facebook and Twitter right on the DVR. I had some of my friends over to show off FiOS TV, and we had the cameras going to capture it all. Hit play for a look at what went down. We got our hands on the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 personal video recorder, and we bring you a review of this unit in this episode. The Hauppage HD PVR 1212 connects to your peripherals using component cable, and then goes out to your display over component as well. It captures the video output live, and records it to a computer, which will then let you edit that video. We’ve had the NewerTech miniStack v3 quad interface powered hub external storage solution running for 9 months now, and we are reporting back with our review of the device. The miniStack v3 is a hard drive enclosure that had FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0, and eSATA ports, giving you four ways to connect this external storage device to your computer. It supports Plug and Play, and is simple to set up and use. Plus, as you’ll see, it sits atop a Mac mini perfectly, hence the name miniStack. So, remember that LG Scarlet Series HDTV that we gave you a look at the other day? Well, now we are giving it away to one of you, in conjunction with ExpoTV! That’s right, you have a shot at walking away with this 52-inch beauty. Want in? Here’s how it works:

  1. Head on over to the contest page on ExpoTV
  2. Hit the sign up button at the bottom of that page
  3. Submit a video review of any electronic device you have access to. For each review, you get one entry into the contest. For every LG product that you review, you get five entries. There is no limit to the number of devices you can review. Heck, if you want to, submit 10 a day.
  4. Anytime someone on ExpoTV marks your review as “Helpful”, you earn an extra entry.

The giveaway starts now, and ends on May 8 at 11:59 PM EDT. We will announce a winner, drawn at random, by May 15th. As always, there are a couple of things we can’t get around, mostly due to the law. As such, this giveaway is open to legal US residents only, age 18 or over.

We’ve said it for months, but we will say it again, as far as digital music goes, the Pass is the best deal in music. Of course, if you want to take advantage of the tracks you download using the Zune Pass, you’ll need an actual Zune device. Sure, you could hit the store and pick up one of the generic Zunes you’ll find on the store shelves of any Target or Best Buy, but why not get something a little more customized? We were able to get our hands on a custom-designed Zune Originals device, and we thought we’d give you a hands-on look at what exactly it is you get when you spend an extra $15 or so on a customized Zune.
