Thanks to AMD Live!, manufacturers are finally creating affordable high-quality and high-performance components for the home theatre PC. Inexpensive platforms supporting full-resolution 1080p HD and 7.1 channel surround sound are being manufactured and will be out for sale real soon.

We love the intiative AMD has taken on this one! We talk with Jay Taylor of AMD Live! and have a look at the new components.

Forum Discussion

Just watched this today and I was wondering. Does the HDMI pass audio as well? or is it limited to video? If it does pass audio, is it limited to the 3 ch audio that the board supplies or can it do 5.1 and 7.1? Does anyone know?

The HDMI can pass 7.1 audio. wink

Awesome. Does it support passthru for the newer forms like dtsHD and such?

BTW, thanks for the response, wasn’t sure I’d get one..LOL

Nice hardware. Will be nice to see how it all breaks down price wise for the DIY crowd.
